New Nissan Z arriving next year with up to 475 hp?

The next Z car will allegedly share its platform with the next-gen Infiniti Q60.

The numerous rumors surrounding the Nissan Z’s death were greatly exaggerated, according to a recent report. The coupe will allegedly return for a new generation in the coming years, and it will spawn a hot-rodded, Nismo-badged flagship model.

The flagship of the Z line will be a Nismo-tuned model with a 475-horsepower evolution of the standard car’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. Four-wheel drive will come standard. Non-Nismo models will boast 400 horsepower and rear-wheel drive.

Nissan hasn’t commented on the report so we’re taking it with a grain of salt. On one hand, it’s difficult for the company to make a business case for a coupe because the segment is in the midst of collapse. On the other hand, the Z remains one of Nissan’s image-boosting models and company insiders badly want to see it stick around for a new generation.
