Subaru announces pricing for updated 2019 WRX, WRX STI

Subaru’s WRX and WRX STI models are getting slightly more expensive for 2019.

Subaru has announced pricing for its 2019 WRX and WRX STI lineups. Both performance models receive slight updates for the new model year, along with a newly available Series.Gray limited edition model.

Starting with the WRX, all 2019 models will ship standard with an updated infotainment system that runs both Android Auto and AppleCarPlay. The entry-level WRX gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen while Premium and above trims receive a 7-inch touchscreen.

Premium and above WRX models also get Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as standard for 2019. However, the EyeSight system, which includes features like adaptive cruise control and emergency braking, is only standard on models equipped with the optional CVT.

The 2019 model year will also see the introduction of the limited edition Series.Gray WRX. Limited to 750 units, the special edition model is based on the WRX Premium and includes the typically optional Performance Package, LED headlights and push-button start.

Prices for the 2019 WRX will start from $27,195 and stretch to $32,595 for the Series.Gray. Those prices reflect a $200 increase across the board. All prices exclude an $885 destination charge.

The 2019 WRX STI see a performance bump from 305 horsepower to 310 horsepower thanks to a new air intake and less restrictive exhaust system. Subaru also went to the trouble to fit the STI model with a retuned ECU and stronger pistons. The STI’s six-speed manual was reworked to include a revised third-gear ratio for better acceleration.

The Series.Gray package — which includes Cool Gray Khaki exterior paint, Crystal Black Silica badging and black-painted wheels — will also be available on the WRX STI, although it will be limited to just 250 units.

Prices for the 2019 WRX STI will start from $36,595, which represents a $500 hike over last year’s model. The WRX STI Series.Gray is priced at $39,695. Again, all prices exclude an $885 destination fee.

Look for the 2019 WRX and WRX STI to land in dealer showrooms later this year.
