Thai Auto Parts Manufacturers Association Revealed growing number of exports at 15.5% in 2017 Along with strategies to push for cooperation in 2018 2020

Thai Auto – Parts Manufacturers Association – aka TAPMA, revealed number of Thai auto parts export market in 2017 which values up to $19,844.69 million with 15.5% growth comparing to 2016 with highest export values from parts and miscellaneous equipment along with the association's strategies to strengthen the organization in 2018 – 2020 as well as setting the direction for auto parts manufacture section to raise standards to the international stage.

Achana Limpaitoon, President of Thai Auto – Parts Manufacturers Association shared, "Previously in 2017, Thai auto parts market has shown its potential in earning significant income for the country with export value up to $19,844.69 million with an increase of 15.5% comparing to 2016 with parts and miscellaneous equipment creating the highest export value while import value tallied up to $16,623.53 million with 8.15% increase comparing to 2016. The total import-export value in 2017 has a surplus of $3,221.16 million with the most export value coming from top 5 export partners beginning with USA at $2,779.19 million making 14% of the total export with an increase of 20.62% from 2016, followed by Japan at $1,799.64 million with 9.07% of the total export and 9.79% increase from 2016, Indonesia being 3rd place at $1,695.07 million making 8.54% of the total with 22.80% increase from 2016, Malaysia at $1,349.47 million making 6.80% of the total with 2.81% decrease from 2016, and China at $1,173.27 million making 5.91% of the total export with 37.92%increase from 2016."

We aim to support the auto parts manufacture industry and push for sustainable growth, strength and the ability to compete in international stage with TAPMA's new strategies for 2018 – 2020 which can be categorized into 6 major aspects including 1) Strengthen the organization creating people with focus on ethical values, developing the operation systems, emphasizing on solid management with cooperation, supporting the new generations in management of finance within the association for self-dependency 2) Focus on the technology, Innovation and Standardization creating technology capability for auto parts manufacturers by connecting with government and private agencies both domestic and international for support 3) Human Empowerment developing the potential and ability of the labor force in the industry with appropriate skills, well-being and discipline for future social and organization rewards 4)Strengthen the business internationally focusing and developing the connection of international network 5) Management of SMEs supporting and developing strong SMEs with proper management and 6) Support and promote export creating increased opportunities, channels and cooperation between the auto parts manufacturers with interest in export through various activities."

"Today, Thailand is considered to be one of the strongest hub of auto parts manufacture for export as seen from significant numbers of the total market value with Thailand at the top followed by Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines respectively. However, according to the strategy, we set the goal in developing professional human resource to support the continuous growth of the industry. Currently, from our cooperation with Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour in 2016 – 2017, we have developed 5,949 professional staff and aim for 4,000 more each year going forward from 2018."added, Achana.
