McLaren 620R takes inspiration from 570S GT4 racer

Aerodynamic hardware and chassis components have been borrowed from the race car.

McLaren has revealed the 620R, a special-edition Sports Series model that serves as a street-legal version of the 570S GT4 race car.

Both coupes share the same M838TE 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, however the 620R does not have to comply with racing restrictions. Output has consequently increased to 611 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful in the Sports Series lineup.

Drivers can expect to hit 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, 124 mph in 8.1 seconds and eventually max out at 200 mph. Aerodynamic components borrowed from the GT4 car contribute to nearly 408 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, further slashing lap times.

The 620R features a wider track and lowered suspension with manually adjustable GT4 dampers, carbon ceramic brakes and center-lock wheels. Street-legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R rubber comes standard, while custom track-only slicks are available as an optional upgrade.

Only 350 examples will be built, each commanding $299,000 USD with the first deliveries expected to begin in February.
