2019 Chevy Silverado gets lower price for midrange trim

The revised Silverado introduces a new 2.7-liter turbo engine with more torque than the 4.3-liter V6.

General Motors has announced pricing changes for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado lineup, lowering the starting MSRP for a popular midrange trim.

The LT crew cab now has an entry price of $40,795, representing a $700 savings over the 2018 truck. The LT also introduces a new 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 22 percent more torque than the 4.3-liter V6 that it replaces.

Further reducing fuel consumption, the new Silverado has been outfitted with an eight-speed transmission, stop-start tech and active aero shutters. It is also up to 450 pounds lighter than the outgoing truck, despite standing on a larger overall footprint.

Among six engine/transmission combinations, some configurations bring increased payload and tow ratings by a few hundred pounds. The 6.2-liter V8 with Max Towing package is now rated at 12,200 pounds, up 500 pounds from the 2018 model.

The new Silverado is scheduled to arrive in showrooms this fall.
