Aston Martin details Rapide AMR with 580 horsepower

Just 210 examples of the Aston Martin Racing-inspired Rapide will be manufactured.

Aston Martin has detailed its latest racing-theme special edition, the Rapide AMR, that was first unveiled as a concept in Geneva.

Borrowing an acronym from Aston Martin Racing, the exclusive Rapide boasts a few aesthetic tweaks that take inspiration from the Vantage AMR Pro and DB11 AMR.

The unique appearance extends from the large grille to the carbon-fiber splitter, sills, rear diffuser and trunk lip spoiler. Aston says the body adjustments help reduce lift.

Engineers have retuned the Rapide’s 6.0-liter V12 engine to produce 580 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while a new quad exhaust system promises to honor the AMR’s motorsport character.

Drivers can expect to launch from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, eventually topping out at 205 mph. Revised suspension tuning and Michelin Super Sport tires on 21-inch wheels help improve performance through the corners, with standard carbon-ceramic brakes to shave off speed on entry.

Just 210 examples will be produced, each carrying a $240,000 price tag.
