Automobili Pininfarina has appointed a Board of Directors, clearing the way for the brand to launch as the newest luxury EV maker.
Earlier this year Automobili Pininfarina announced plans to launch as a luxury EV brand, and the company took the first step toward that goal on Tuesday by naming its Board of Directors. With its board in place, Automobili Pininfarina plans to present its business and product plans to prospective retailer partners, clients and media in New York this week.
“Automobili Pininfarina is a pioneering new business created to service the most discerning clients in the world,” said Michael Perschke, Automobili Pininfarina CEO. “Our product portfolio will launch with an innovative, zero-emissions hypercar that represents the progression we aim to make at the pinnacle of the luxury and sports car market.”
Automobili Pininfarina’s first model, known as the PF0, will debut in concept form at the Monterey Car Week this August. The company says the PF0 was designed by the famed Pininfarina SpA design house and its drivetrain co-developed with the Mahindra Racing Formula E team. Mahindra & Mahindra is the parent company of Automobili Pininfarina.
Automobili Pininfarina hasn’t released any details on the PF0 yet, but the company did issue a teaser image depicting a futuristic-looking coupe worthy of the hypercar designation.
