BMW is reportedly considering an M-badged variant of the upcoming X7.
Company leaders have not yet come to a consensus for a green light, but the final decision is expected to be made within a few weeks, according to a BMW Blog report citing ‘several sources’ from Munich.
The idea of a massive SUV adorned with the venerable M badge will certainly stir controversy. The X7 M may not be far out of place following the X5 M and X6 M, however.
To keep up with the rival Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 AMG, the X7 M will need at least 575 horsepower and enough torque to launch from zero to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
If the X7 M does get the thumbs-up, it could arrive as early as 2019.
