COMO The Treasury awarded Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand for third year in a row

Conde Nast Traveler today announced the results of its 31st annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Nearly half a million Conde Nast Traveler readers submitted a recording-breaking number of responses rating their travel experiences to provide a full snapshot of where and how we travel today.

COMO Uma Punakha was awarded third best hotel in the world. COMO Uma Punakha and COMO Uma Paro in Bhutan were also awarded first and second place respectively in the Best Hotel in Asia category.

“For COMO Hotels and Resorts, these are among the most significant awards in our 25-year history — acknowledgement from past guests that our core values around authentic, transformational experiences remain with them beyond their stay,” said James Low, COMO Uma Bhutan’s General Manager.

James continues: “We have just 29 rooms at COMO Uma Paro, and 11 at COMO Uma Punakha. An award this size for properties this intimate recognises the heart of the matter in modern luxury tourism: people remember what changes them, not just what indulges them. That makes me immensely proud — for the integrity of the brand and its deep engagement with Bhutanese culture, from food to interior design. Above all, it recognises the passion shown by our staff, who consistently shine in their one-one-one engagement with every guest as they share their magnificent country. That’s the COMO difference: travel to Bhutan with COMO, and our highly trained butlers and drivers escort you through every part of this Himalayan mountain experience.”

Also winning recognition in the 2018 awards is COMO The Treasury in Perth, which won first place in the Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand category for the third year in a row.

In the Resorts category, COMO Uma Ubud was awarded second Best Resort in Asia.

Honourable mentions also included COMO Metropolitan Bangkok in Thailand, and COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach in the USA in the Hotels Categories. COMO Cocoa Island and COMO Maalifushi in the Maldives, COMO Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, COMO Point Yamu in Thailand, and COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali were all recognised in the Resorts categories.

COMO Hotels and Resorts is committed to creating extraordinary experiences for curious people with a passion for a life lived fully. With 14 luxury properties around the globe in destinations including Bhutan, Turks and Caicos, Miami, Indonesia, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Maldives, each individual hotel draws inspiration from its compelling and unique location while representing the brand’s approach to offering luxury with a deep respect for authenticity. Though the brand’s values are consistent with its sister brand in wellness, COMO Shambhala — world-class cuisine, first class service and the power of meaningful experiences — no two properties around the globe are the same.

The Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.”

The 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards are published exclusively on Conde Nast Traveler’s website at www.cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue on newsstands nationwide on October 16th 2018.
