Hua Hin, Thailand (May, 2024): Get ready to say “Ciao” to your diet, because The Standard, Hua Hin is cooking up something irresistibly tempting for this holiday season. Spend your Sunday indulging in family-friendly comfort food at Lido with ‘Sunday The Italian Way’. Or, if you’re feeling fancy, put your pinkies out for the new afternoon tea experience at Praça – where teatime chic meets seaside vibes.

From May to September Hua Hin’s favorite all-day Italian restaurant, Lido, will be hosting ‘Sunday The Italian Way’ – a leisurely Mediterranean affair with food straight out of Nonna’s kitchen. On the rotating menu are classic antipasti, including mozzarella with prosciutto di Parma; garlicky bruschetta topped with creamy goat cheese, pumpkin, and onion jam; and rucola salad with grilled Italian sausage. Best enjoyed with a slice of oven-fresh focaccia, light summer soups brim with local produce, offering such options as clear tomato consommé with prawns and lobster oil; and spicy seafood broth with tomato, chili and grilled lemon.

The carving station is a tribute to all things Italian. Here, guests can pile their plates high with roasted pork, beef or chicken, paired with all-time favorites like eggplant parmigiana; baked cauliflower with tahini and truffle sauce; sautéed green beans with macadamia pesto and ricotta; polenta with smoked Scamorza; and stuffed zucchini. Those wise enough to save room for dolci can sink their teeth in cacao-dusted tiramisu, orange-infused cheesecake, zabaglione al marsala with strawberries, or affogato with vanilla ice cream and a dash of sambuca. ‘Sunday The Italian Way’ takes place at Lido every Sunday from 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm and is priced THB 900 per person.

Turning teatime into a seaside soirée and infusing your weekends with chic flavors, Praça Afternoon Tea is where the magic happens. Kick things off with deep-fried catfish rolled in crispy betel leaves and coconut flakes, treat your palate to the spicy notes of blue crab salad; or nibble on lotus root paired with ong dip. Then, dive into the sweet life with seriously dark chocolate truffles made with chili and coconut flakes; homemade scones with jam, honey, and mascarpone; pastel-hued macaroons; and assorted choux pastry. Complementing popular classic blends, the tea selection also includes pandan and Thai teas. Praça Afternoon Tea takes place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, with prices starting from THB 1,100 net for two people, including tea (add THB 1,500 for two glasses of Prosecco).
