MG gets closer to Young Consumers with #DareToBeYou, a Marketing Breakthrough on Self-Expression


Bangkok – 22nd March 2024 – SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd., and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd.—authorized manufacturer and distributor of MG cars in Thailand – unitedly introduced “#DareToBeYou” as a new campaign encouraging young consumers to be the way they truly are. The campaign gathers KOLs who are known for their unique identities or personalities in an exclusive fashion shooting which will be released on social media. Furthermore, MG is going to spin the “#DareToBeYou” into a core communication strategy for a new product soon to be launched to primarily target Thai young drivers.

Mr. Pongsak Lertruedeewattanavong, Vice President of MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed: “Being a brand that always present something different and being a brand that constantly uplift Thailand’s vast automotive industry with something new are at the heart of MG’s unshaken business strategies. Further than aforesaid strategies, we never stop bringing our brand closer to our customers. As MG—in 2024—would like to open ourselves more to young consumers and young drivers, we are pleased to present a new campaign called ‘#DareToBeYou.’ The campaign is truly outside-the-box and it also focuses on actual identities of our target customers.”

Young consumers today are “Tremendously expressive in their identities, high in level of self-confidence, and do not shy to think different from others” according to a survey about needs, behaviors, and lifestyles. As many of these consumers may be perceived by others as nonconformists or extremists, MG would like to be a mediator encouraging young people to be themselves in their own ways that are not violating others. 45 Gen Y and Gen Z KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) in total will reveal their own selves through five exclusive fashion sets which will be released online. These five fashion sets have the following themes:

• Ones with pride in their bodies

  • LGBTQ+ creators behind quirky and fun social virals
    • Ones with pride in their complexion
    • Ones who love tattoos and believe in artistic aspects of tattoos, regardless of gender
    • Ones with their unique sense of fashion and love to dress in their unique, expressive ways
