MICHELIN RANKED No.1 TIRE MAKER IN PUBLIC DISLOSURE IN NATURAL RUBBER INDUSTRY

• 3 years in a row achievement of No.1 tire maker in the ranking across the entire natural rubber industry
• Scoring 80.9%, the assessment was conducted by SPOTT, a ZSL conservation initiative assessing companies on their public disclosure regarding their organization, policies, and practices related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
• The high score demonstrates Michelin’s commitment to public disclosure and reporting in environmental, social and governance issues towards our stakeholders.

It has been the 3rd consecutive year that Michelin, the world’s leading tire company, has been ranked the number one tire maker in SPOTT’s assessment of the natural rubber sector. The company continues to maintain its leadership as the top Tire Maker with a score of 80.9% (an increase of 0.8% from the previous year).

The SPOTT platform, a ZSL conservation initiative, uses a framework of 185 ESG related indicators to score companies’ public policies and commitments relating to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, supporting the financial sector and supply chain stakeholders to manage ESG risk. The strong rating received demonstrates Michelin’s continued commitment to ESG transparency and commitment to our stakeholders.

SPOTT’s overall scores focus on the public availability, quality and scope of policies, commitments, operational data, and reporting of activities undertaken by companies to meet their targets. The higher score indicates relatively higher transparency and quality of company disclosure regarding its organization, its policy and its practices towards sustainability.

The latest SPOTT assessment, published in March 2024, assessed 30 natural rubber companies, including the world’s largest tyre manufacturers and natural rubber producers. Against an industry average of 43.5% Michelin outclassed its peers to score highest of all with 80.9%. This demonstrates Michelin’s leadership in sustainability disclosures and transparency.

“It’s been 3 years that Michelin has maintained our ranking as the top tire maker for the SPOTT assessment, the result demonstrates the company’s efforts and commitment towards sustainability, with the aim to fulfill our 2050 ambitions including our “All-Sustainable’” vision and “net zero emissions” targets. Michelin develops strong, long-term relationships with our stakeholders, based on trust, proximity, and transparency.” said Mr. Segsarn Trai-Ukos, Managing Director of Société des Matières Premiéres Tropicales Pte Ltd (SMPT), a subsidiary of the Michelin Group which functions as its natural rubber procurement and technical hub.
