Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Continues to Outperform Market with 26.3 Percent Sales Growth


Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has posted positive figures for the first half of 2018 showing itself to be on-track to meet its targets for the calendar year.

From January to June 2018, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand sold 41,101 vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of about 26.3 percent, outgrowing the industry’s year-on-year growth of about 19.5 percent. The total industry volume for the first half of 2018 totaled 489,745 units.

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s performance earned it a market share of 8.2 percent, compared with 7.9 percent during the same period last year.
Exports totaled 165,970 units (built-up and knocked-down inclusive), representing a growth of 11.1 percent year-on-year. Correspondingly, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s production also increased, reaching a total of 218,797 units (built-up and knocked-down inclusive), posting a year-on-year growth of about 19 percent.

Mr. Morikazu Chokki, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, “Our performance in the first half of 2018 has been outstanding. There were many contributing factors to our positive results, including a range of winning products, successful motor show events and great sales, marketing and aftersales efforts.”

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s sales was led by the Mitsubishi Triton that accounted for 49 percent of all Mitsubishi vehicles sold. Following that are the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mitsubishi Attrage city cars that accounted for 35 percent and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport at 15 percent of total sales.

“I am confident we can keep this momentum, going into the second half of the year. This is especially so with more products planned for the rest of the year, particularly the very important addition to our range, the All New XPANDER, the new crossover,” Mr. Chokki concluded.

Recently previewed by the Thai media, the All New XPANDER has been designed from the ground for an all-new market segment. It features an all new futuristic design based on Mitsubishi Motors’ ‘Dynamic Shield’ design language, superior driving performance, and a spacious and comfortable interior that boasts the top-level interior dimensions.

The All New XPANDER is Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s most anticipated launch in 2018. It follows the launches of various other models including new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Limited Edition, Mitsubishi Triton Athlete, new Mitsubishi Mirage and new Mitsubishi Mirage Limited Edition, and Mitsubishi Attrage Limited Edition. The market can look forward to more product launches before the end of the year.
