New Renault Megane RS: Fresh information Getting Four-Wheel Steering And Sport

Renault’s hot new Megane will come with around 300bhp, four-wheel steering and a Cup chassis option

Renault has dropped fresh information on its next hot hatch – the all-new Megane RS – revealing that it’ll be equipped with a four-wheel steering system and a choice of two chassis.

Renault’s 4CONTROL four-wheel steering technology will be fitted as standard, and has been specially calibrated for the upcoming 300bhp hot hatch. Renault promises that the setup will offer enhanced cornering agility in tighter bends, with additional stability in fast corners.

Secondly, and as ever with Renaultsport tweaked hatchbacks, the choice of a track honed Cup chassis will be offered as an optional extra above the regular Sports chassis.

Renault has released a clutch of new teaser photographs too, showing the Megane RS undergoing cold weather assessment. With a full reveal scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show, the car’s disguise is getting lighter and lighter. The teasers come not long after the car was spied testing on the Nurburgring.

Honda has regained its Nurburgring crown for fastest front-wheel-drive car with the latest Civic Type R, but the pictures suggest Renault – which held the record as recently as 2014 with the Megane RS 275 – is hard at work to make its mark on the hot hatch scene with a new headline lap time.
