The BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe rival is expected to arrive in 2019.
Porsche has reportedly given the production green-light to the rumored Cayenne coupe.
The sleek Cayenne variant is said to retain the same front-end styling and four doors of the third-generation Cayenne, but with a sportier silhouette that adopts a more round rear end.
The company will market the coupe-styled SUV as a performance model with a choice between a 440-horsepower twin-turbo V6 or a 550-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, according to Autocar.
The new addition to the Cayenne family will serve as a direct rival to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, with an expected arrival window of late 2019.
The German automaker is also rumored to be working on a proper two-door grand tourer based on the Panamera.
