Mercedes-AMG announces Edition 1 package for GT sedan

The AMG GT four-door coupe is getting a launch package.

Mercedes-AMG is celebrating the launch of its first-ever AMG GT sedan with a new limited edition package known as Edition 1. The AMG GT Edition 1 receives unique styling cues inside and out, along with the model line’s most powerful engine.

The AMG GT Edition 1 should be easy to recognize thanks to its standard AMG Aerodynamics Package. That package includes a larger front splitter, an optimized diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler in place of the car’s typical retractable unit. Although fixed in the upright position, the wing of the spoiler is mechanically adjustable. On the aesthetics front the Edition 1 gets designo Graphite Grey Magno paintwork, some matte graphite stripes and 21-inch AMG wheels.

Inside the Edition 1 features exclusive Nappa Leather in Magma Grey/Black with yellow contrasting stitching, matte carbon fiber trim, yellow seat belts, a performance steering wheel, illuminated AMG door sill panels and edition-specific floor mats.

The Edition 1 package is based on the top-of-the-line AMG GT 63 S model, which means it gets a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 630 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Putting power down to all four wheels via an AMG-tuned 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, Mercedes says the Edition 1 can scoot from 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 195mph.

Mercedes has not announced pricing for the AMG GT Edition 1 package.
