1955 Ferrari 410 SuperAmerica

Through American distributor Luigi Chinetti, this 410 SuperAmerica was acquired new by H. Richard Dietrich from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Completed in the fall of 1956, it was originally finished in grey with a red leather upholstery.

Dietrich actually took delivery of the car in Europe and spent the final months of 1956 touring Europe in it before having it shipped to New York in December.

Dietrich would own the car through to his death in the early 1980s. From his estate, 0491SA was acquired by noted Ferrari collector Greg Garrison. In the following years, it was completely restored by Bruno Borri’s Modena Motors in Los Angeles.

Following the completion of the work, the 410 SuperAmerica was shown at Pebble Beach, winning the Hans Tanner Memorial Trophy.

The car’s third owner acquired the car in 1999 and had it restored once more, re-finishing the exterior in a dark metallic red and a brown leather interior.

Since then, it has only been shown at select events like the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where it is pictured. With only three owners from new, it was consigned to the 2018 Gooding & Co. Amelia Auction.
