Mazda maintains leadership in small car segment with more than 21,000 units sold during first 4 months Special sales campaign to be offered during 9-day Mazda Best Fest


Mazda is celebrating outstanding sales performance with April sales growing by 5 per cent to almost 4,500 units, while during the first 4 months of the year, the company has already sold more than 21,000 vehicles in Thailand to register a 33-per cent growth compared to the same period last year. Last month, Mazda had just celebrated a highly successful sale for fiscal year 2017-2018, with Thailand becoming the fastest-growing market for the brand worldwide.

Mr. Chanchai Trakarnudomsuk, President of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MST), said after going through a major restructuring in every department, particularly in the organization’s management targeted at creating a stronger working team within the company and its dealerships or “One Mazda”, MST has seen its efforts bearing fruit.

“With increasing popularity in the Thai automobile market thanks to its emotional design, attention to details and large number of innovative technologies offering outstanding performance and efficiency, Mazda products have caught the limelight, with customers helping to ‘spread the word’ about their exceptional experience with Mazda,” he said.

In April, Mazda sales rose by 5 per cent compared to the corresponding month last year, with the Mazda2 sales of 2,768 units, an increase of 6 per cent. Sales of the Mazda CX-5 SUV surged by as much as 153 per cent to 700 units in April, while sales of the Mazda3 reached 376 units, a decline of 24 per cent. Sales of the CX-3 were 157 units, down 59 per cent, and sales of the Mazda BT-50 PRO were 415 units, declining by 9 per cent. As for the MX-5 roadster, 3 units were sold, an increase of 200 per cent. In total, Mazda sold 4,419 units in April.

“The important factors that enabled Mazda to increase sales by 5 per cent in April were the large number of orders placed at the Bangkok Motor Show, with deliveries starting to take place. There are also customers who wanted vehicles delivered in time for the Songkran festival,” he said, adding that customer confidence in the Mazda brand has grown stronger.

Meanwhile during the first 4 months of 2018 (Jan-April), Mazda sold a total of 21,005 vehicles in Thailand, registering a growth of 33 per cent. The Mazda2 is the top-selling model with an aggregate of 13,081 units, growing by 42 per cent, followed by the Mazda CX-5 with 3,071 units, surging by 186 per cent). Sales of the Mazda BT-50 during this period reached 2,065 units, down slightly by 8 per cent, while 1,666 units of the Mazda3 were sold, also down by 8 per cent. Sales of the Mazda CX-3 were 1,115 units, down 20 per cent, and sales of the MX-5 were 7 units.

Mr. Thee Permpongpanth, Vice President of Marketing and Government Affair, added that Mazda has been highly committed in terms of product marketing throughout the years. “We have been studying the wants and needs of automobile consumers and we have collected a lot of suggestions from our dealers in order to put together sales campaigns that are most effective and are capable of answering to the consumers as much as possible,” he said. “We also give high importance to establish new communication channels with our customers, whether through online and offline media, websites, printed media, radio and television, as well as through Mazda’s own social media such as Facebook, LINE, YouTube and Instagram.”
